A New Era

NEW Legendary Passes

I am really excited to share our new season pass products for next winter season. Now honored at all three resorts, our suite of Legendary Passes offer something for everyone at an unbeatable value. For our longtime Snowriver die-hards, the Silver Pass offers you unlimited skiing and riding at Snowriver for only $475 while also providing access to Granite Peak and Lutsten with only 12 blackout dates. Perfect for taking a trip to check out our sister resorts to enjoy all they have to offer. For anyone without a pass for this season, we're offering a $99 spring add-on to ski the rest of this season beginning right away at Granite Peak and Snowriver and Starting April 1st at Lutsen. If you've never enjoyed a bluebird day on the shores of lake superior carving turns down Moose Mountain, I promise you won't be disappointed. Check out our website for more details. Passes go on sale this Saturday, March 4th.

End of Season Plan

As we march toward spring, we're excited to keep the fun rolling as long as possible. Our plan is to operate Jackson Creek Summit daily until Sunday, April 2nd. Starting the following day, we will be getting straight to work on the removal of the old lifts to make way for the new Voyageur Express, so The Summit will remain closed from then on. This year we will be offering spring skiing over at Black River Basin Friday-Sunday of Easter weekend, before transitioning to Saturday-Sunday-only operations beginning on the 15th.

March 5th $5 Sale

With the replacement of all the furniture in the Lodge at Jackson Creek this fall we have lots of surplus items to get rid of. We have well-built dressers, nightstands, chairs, bedframes, working air conditioners, lamps, bedspreads, pillows, and other items available for purchase. All items are $5 each or 5 items for $20. We'll be holding a rummage sale this Sunday, March 5th from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm in the old health and racket building. Please stop by to check out what we have, lots of great deals to be had!

Online Auction

Many of you have been asking since the fall what we're going to do with all of the Blackjack and Indianhead signage that we took down. We're excited to launch an online auction alongside our spring season pass sale beginning at noon on March 4th. The team and I have been working to catalog, measure and photograph all of the items and will be uploading them by the end of this week. Once ready to roll, we'll share the link to the auction on our social media, email lists, and on our website. Be sure to check it out and maybe you can own your own piece of Big Snow history.

Chair Sale

The Voyageur Quad in its first winter of operation during the 1969-1970 Winter Season

On the same note, we're also going to be auctioning off a select number of chairs from each of the lifts we're removing to make way for the Voyageur Express. We'll have 50 chairs from the double, triple, and quad all up for bidding during the spring pass sale running from March 4th through May 14th at 8:00 pm. Don't miss this rare opportunity to purchase one of these chairs for yourself. They make great porch swings or benches for your backyard campfire. Bidding will start at $250 per chair or buy one right away for $750 and skip the bidding. Stay tuned for the link to the auction site!

Opening Weekend at Jackson Creek Summit

Yesterday was opening day at Jackson Creek Summit. It was exciting to welcome guests into the renovated Summit Center, now named the Sugar Maple Chalet. It was fun to watch our long time season pass holders check out all the changes we'd made to a place they've been so familiar with over the years. Who knew carpeting and anti-slip vinyl flooring could be such an exciting change.  The rental shop is finally finished and welcomed it's first renters yesterday. The space turned out great thanks to the hard work from many hands. It's so neat to see families get outfitted in their gear before heading straight onto the beginner slopes, just a few steps away. Our staff particularly appreciates the opportunity to watch their customers take their first turns, instead of being stuck in the windowless shop they previously called home.  We did have a few hang-ups in our plan that caused us to modify our operations for opening day and the rest of the weekend. As part of the construc...

A Flurry of Activity

The Sugar Maple Chalet (former Summit Center) is really starting to come together, with renovations wrapping up in preparation for our opening day this Friday. Between contractors and our own team, there is quite the flurry of activity going on as I write this morning. We're going to be running down to the wire with a number of finishing touches. The new ticket windows are nearing completion, with just the windows themselves yet to be installed. Delivery is scheduled for Wednesday, and the crew will get to work on installing them as soon as they arrive. In the meantime, we'll be working on setting up the computers with our point-of-sale systems to be ready for our guests on Friday. Once complete, all day tickets and rentals will be sold out of these windows. Season pass pickup will be available at the guest service counter inside the chalet. The new carpet, paint, and furniture has made a tremendous difference inside the chalet. The classic charm of the building really shines w...

Just Getting Started

I had the opportunity to get out skiing with my Dad and my Sister on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. It was great to be out on the snow. Shanty Boy was a blast. Smooth, fast, and steep. Was fun to think that we're really just getting started, with so much more terrain to open and enjoy this season. The conditions were made even better by my brand new boots from Big Snow Outfitters in Bessemer. Growing up, my first few pairs of skis and boots all came from BSO's retired rental fleet, so of course it was the first place I thought to look to get my slightly packed out boots fitted properly. Walking into the store brought back so many childhood memories of stopping by the store after a day of skiing to enjoy the warmth of the wood burning fire and browse around dreaming of what equipment I'd buy when I grew up. The nostalgia must have got to me because it wasn't long before I was walking out with a new pair of Lange boots. Apparently the boots I'd been rocking for the pa...
